St. Patrick’s Day Fabric Strip Garland

February 27, 2017 by Pam Leave a Comment

Fabric Scrap Garland

I’ve been on a mission to come up with new projects using just supplies and fabrics I have on hand. I had quite a few fabric scraps left over from last years St. Patrick’s Day table runner, so I pulled them out, cut them into 1-1/2″ strips, and made a pretty banner for my craft room window. I love how cheerful and springy this is, and it was so easy to make.

I followed the basic instructions from this tutorial on Grey House Harbor. Most of my fabrics were 19″ wide so my strips were a bit shorter than the original tutorial, but other than that I followed the same assembly process.

I used 70 strips from 10 different prints to make a 4-foot garland.

This was a great finish-it-while-binge-watching-Netflix project. Once all the strips were cut out and I’d decided on an order, I just started at one end, grabbed the first strip in the stack, tied it to my ribbon and moved on to the next one. Lather, rinse and repeat half a dozen times and it’s done!
