Technically, these are lavender and rose geranium bath salts. But the Hubs and the Boy both know they’re my “special” bath salts for when I’m completely stressed out. Lavender oil has a soothing and calming effect on the nerves, relieving tension and depression, and rose geranium oil has a balancing effect on the nervous system and relieves depression and anxiety, while lifting the spirits and relieving stress. And they are AWESOME at settling that cranky, wired-and-tired feeling that sometimes accompanies PMS. They’re really easy to make, too.
You’ll need:
- 3/4 cups sea salt
- 1/4 cup powdered milk
- 1/4 cup Epsom salts
- 1/4 cup baking soda
- Lavender and rose geranium essential oils
If you can’t find the essential oils locally, you can purchase both from Mountain Rose Herbs. (If you click on the link and purchase an item, I will receive a small commission.)
Mix the dry ingredients together in a glass bowl. Add 22 drops each of the lavender and rose geranium essential oils, spreading the drops all over the surface of the dry ingredients. Mix everything until the all the oils are absorbed. Store in an airtight glass container.
To use, add about one eighth of a cup of the salts to your bath.

These bath salts sound so relaxing! I should be receiving my essential oils starter kit today and can’t wait to start putting them to use. I like the geranium/lavender combo. I think I’ll give this recipe a try!
