A friend of mine works in a large corporate office where she’s required to wear an ID badge, and she was lamenting how ugly the holders usually are. Lanyards get tangled up in her jewelry and the clip-on retractable holders pull on her clothes, so I bought a few inexpensive supplies and made her a fancy version.
This is the easiest project ever! You just need a ball chain, a swivel clip (like you’d find on a key ring), and some large hole beads, similar to the ones used on Pandora bracelets. I found all my supplies at Pat Catan’s and the beads were in the clearance bin for $1 each, so I got several colors so my friend can switch them out.
To assemble, just cut your ball chain to the desired length and thread it through the swivel clip. With the clip in the center of the chain, thread beads through both ends of the chain and let them slide down to the clip.
Add a clasp to close the chain and you’re done!
Much classier than lanyards and plastic gizmos, don’t you think?
