A friend of mine can’t use commercial mosquito sprays and asked if I could come up with an all-natural version that used essential oils. I had a couple recipes bookmarked from the Mountain Rose Herb blog and decided to try one with catnip hydrosol as the base.
The recipe uses:
- 8oz Catnip hydrosol
- 20 drops Cedarwood essential oil
- 20 drops Lavender essential oil
- 10 drops Lemongrass essential oil
- 10 drops Lemon essential oil
The hydrosol came in a glass spray bottle so I just added the oils to it and gave it a good shake. It smells lovely, so much better than the commercial sprays!
I couldn’t find catnip hydrosol locally so I ordered it from Mountain Rose Herbs. It was the most expensive part of this recipe their prices were better than any other source I checked, and they were the only source that offered organic hydrosols. I included the links to all the ingredients above.
