A Little Touch of Green

March 7, 2015 by Pam 2 Comments

I don’t usually decorate much for St. Patrick’s Day but after making the shamrock banners, I wanted to add a little more color to my house. Isn’t it nice to see a little green when it’s so snowy and dreary outside?

I ran across these cute fabric balls on Pinterest and decided they’d be perfect for my dining room table. Bonus points: this is a ridiculously easy project. Seriously, it took me 15 minutes, tops.

Fabric balls 1

I used a package of 6 styrofoam balls and some fat quarters of green fabric. I cut the fabrics on the bias for a little extra stretch and experimented with the width of the strips. 5/8″ seemed to work best, so that’s what I went with. I anchored each strip with a pin, wrapped until I ran out of fabric then added another one. I overlapped the strips to hide all the pins except the last one.

I love how they turned out! The only problem is, I need more to fill up the bowl I want to use on my dining room table. Back to Hobby Lobby tomorrow for more styrofoam balls!

I’d love to see them! I was just thinking I need to make some black and orange ones for Halloween.
