In one afternoon I managed to burn two fingers and accumulate about a dozen mosquito bites, so I mixed up a couple essential oil remedies to deal with both.
One of the things I appreciate most about essential oils is their versatility. The ones I use most often are fairly inexpensive, and by varying the strength and the carrier oil I can make several different remedies from the same oils. My favorite burn treatment and bug bite relief roll-on both use tea tree oil and lavender oil.
To make the burn treatment you’ll need:
- A small plastic bottle with a squeeze cap
- Aloe vera gel
- Lavender essential oil
- Tea tree oil
I buy aloe vera gel at the health food store. You want to make sure whatever you use does NOT have artificial colors, fragrances or anything else added.
To each one ounce of aloe vera gel, add 5 drops of lavender essential oil and 5 drops of tea tree oil. (My squeeze bottle hold 2 ounces, so I used 10 drops of each oil.)
That’s it! Easy peasy. I store mine in the refrigerator. It lasts longer and the cold gel feels so good on minor burns.
Stay tuned for the bug bite roll-on recipe!
