I mentioned last week that I finished one knitting project and promptly started two more, even though I still have at least 5 other unfinished projects stashed in my craft room. I started a Bad Oyster scarf, knit in Madeline Tosh DK in “Chicory.” I’ve had this on my wish list for a while and it’s going to be a fun project. The name comes from the fact that there are no purl stitches; therefore, bad oyster. No pearls. Get it? Yeah, my son isn’t much into knitting humor either.
It’s knit in the round then cut up the middle to create the fringe. If I hadn’t started it as part of a class and watched a demo on the cutting process (called “steeking”) I’m not sure I’d be brave enough to do it, but I’m going to give it a go. Wish me luck! In the end I’ll either have a really cool fringy scarf, or a big pile of little yarn bits.
